Sartorial Splendor Pt. 1................. Shoulder Form

There are not enough words to describe a great suit.  So, my words will be few............... Okay not really. LOL!! But, there are many things that go into having a good suit. One part is the shoulders. There are mainly three kinds of shoulders on a blazer natural shoulder, a bald shoulder, and the rope shoulder.  Buy one that you will love and that you can make your own. Mold you suit to fit your personality. Be avant-garde with the details. You are a trend setter. Don’t be afraid to go big on the lapel or extremely thin just remember tie to lapel ratio. (Big lapel big tie and small lapel small tie) But that's another post. LOL!! Other than that the suit is a canvas so make a master piece. I love a good rope shoulder double breasted suit. That’s just my preference. The first blazer is one on my list.  Oh wait……………….one last thing you have got to keep a great tailor in you back pocket.  You will always need him just in case you do something crazy like loose 20lbs. LOL!!  Let's do pictures………

Notice how each blazer presents its own measure of confidence! AMAZING!!!! Untill next time……………. Live life in Style!!!

Blog-ception

So, as you know SBLB has three writers! Well, some of the writers for SBLB have another blog that is all them!
Myles Wren's personal blog
Stefani Scott's personal blog
Check them out! Keep checkin them out!
Be you, and ROCK IT!
Stefani

Blue for you.

I have been straight crushing on Katy Perry's blue bob! She is absolutely stunning, and I think this look really fits her. I love everything about it! One of the really big trends in hair colour right now is vibrant colours like blue, purple, and pink. There are several different ways to add some colour into your hair. You can pull a Katy Perry and just go all the way, or just a few streaks, but my personal favorite dip dying the ends of your hair! One of the great things about dip dying is that if you don't want it to be permanent, it doesn’t have to be! You can use a product like Manic Panic that will fade within a few days, and if you have really light hair you can even use Kool-Aid!

Be you, and ROCK IT!

Style-o-Graph............

Myles Warren and I had a very entertaining conversation in txting one day. (which if you get the chance just talk to here you won't stop laughing) Myles said something that opened my eyes a little wider. She said "I am Unique" (in her witty sassy attitude voice). As I burst into laughter I couldn't help but think how true it was about my friends. Myles and Stefani are beautiful, courageous, and magnificent women who define the very essence of outstanding style.  To join the company of women of this caliber gents you must be extraordinary.  You must signify exceptional style, lay the cherry on top of  your fashion three layer chocolate cake, and put the foam on your style double shot soy extra foam caramel cinnamon latte (hold on let me breath that was a lot LOL!!!!)  with something as simple as a PEN.

Now, before you completely close the page and think this is a complete waste of time hear me out.  In the age of the gigantic smart phones and the tablet market a once simple and elegant part of life has quickly diminished.  A hand written letter has given way to the status updates and the mass text messages of our now technological savvy world.

But, let’s just think for one moment. When the President signs a treaty, puts a new law in affect does he send out a mass text message? Does he post it on Twitter? Does he just update his Facebook status?  NO!!!!!! He sits down side by side with other leaders. He picks up a specialty pen weather fountain or ballpoint and they sign their names.

I believe gentlemen you should own a pen just as unique as your signature. You could call it your Signature Quill. LOL!!! Every once and awhile we should tip our hats to a good throw back. A classic throw back can catch any refined person’s eye. Yes, IT MAKES THAT MUCH OF A DIFFERENCE!!!! Trust me!! You know I have to give you pics right?

CARTIER ROADSTER BLACK GOLD TRIM FOUNTAIN PEN

Montblanc Boheme Lacquer Pearl with Gold Trim Medium Point Fountain Pen

S.T. Dupont Orpheo Placed Lacquer Crocodile Extra Fine Point Fountain Pen

Parker Sonnet Premium Chocolate GT Mono Ballpoint

Get a pen Gents. Until next time. Live Life In STYLE!!!!!!!

You be you, I'll be me. Let's be free.
I was flipping through a fashion magazine this afternoon, and pretty much fell in love with every outfit in it. After I was done reading I opened my closet to see if I could somehow copy what I had seen. Everything was so very beautiful and put together, and I wanted to be dressed just like the models I had seen! I tried on literally everything in my closet trying to replicate the styles, but it just didn’t look the same. It wasn’t long before I became frustrated and started throwing articles of clothing around my room like it was my job or something.  I flung myself down on my bed feeling beyond frustrated and grabbed the magazine. I was looking at the cover when it suddenly hit me. Why would I want to mimic something from the pages of a magazine that the general population reads? Why would I want to dress like everyone else? Isn’t the whole objective behind the outfits to be different?
The outfits we see in our favorite fashion magazines each month are amazing, but the whole point of them is to inspire us. Not for everyone to go out and wear the same exact thing! So the next time you’re running around your room like a tornado trying to look exactly like a Marc Jacobs styled model, STOP! You are just as much a stylist as Rachel Zoe is! Be inspired yes, but also BE YOU! You have so much to bring to the table when it comes to style!  You have your own way of viewing things, so take advantage of it!
Be proud, be you, and ROCK IT!

MOTHER'S DAY GIFT IDEAS...by MW

If you’re mommy is anything like mine the only thing she really wants from her kids on Mother’s Day (or any day for that matter) is to spend good quality time together. Allow your mother to cherish a sweet moment with you (if possible). Do her hair, paint her nails, actually take her on a shopping trip, or a movie on the couch eating all kinds of yummy junk food!

Again, if you’re like me, you don’t live near your mother and your unable to spend QT with her personally. Can I suggest then that you pull out some retro ideas. Do you remember when you were in grade school you made your mother cards and gifts in school for mother’s day? Why not do something like that.

Allow your creative juices to flow and give your mother some time spent into making her a unique piece of art that she can proudly show off. I’m not able to go home this weekend to love on my mother but I’m going to surely (lol, my mother’s name is Shirley) put some time into creating something special for her and sending it off it a nice little package for her to open up!

We’re in the age of the internet and so many of us are on Pintrest and the other DIY sites, so look up something fun and love on your mommy in a special way.

IDEAS:

-make soap, candles, lotion, oil perfumes and use special containers that you can easily purchase from a thrift store (great for finding antiques)

-make her a photo album or special book for her to reminisce on

-make her a card and paper flowers

-paint something

-write her a poem and frame it (again you find a great inexpensive frame from any second hand store)

-a collage, find stuff that remind you of her and create a fun shadow box)

-write and record a song for her (doesn’t have to be “fantastic” just fun, everyone has access to something that records…I’m sure of it)

-make some jewelry and send it to her in a nice pretty box from the craft store

-a plant and paint the pot yourself

The possibilities are endless…

Scarfspiration...by MW

I love to wear scarves, so instead of wearing them in a traditional way , folded into a triangle, draped over my shoulders and tied on the side; I’ve decided to shape them into “necklaces” by using knots!

-          You start off with a very inexpensive scarf of your liking, I usually find mine a thrift stores for less than $2 – I’VE EVEN FOUND A RALPH LAUREN SCARF FOR A WOPPING .99!

-          You then fold your scarf in half (corner to corner making a triangle)

-          Roll the scarf starting at the pointy tip towards the long straight side of the scarf

-          Gather the scarf in the middle and make a knot, synching it tighter and tighter to make a really good solid knot

-          After you’ve made that center knot you’re going to make as many knots as you like on either side of the scarf

-          Once you’ve done your knots, make one final tie to “seal the deal” and drape the necklace over your head (or if it’s shorter you may have to actually tie it around your neck)

Volia (Wal-lah)! Your scarf is complete. Styles may vary so have fun!

Since Myles gave you scarf style ladies it’s time to give the guys a little accessory jolt as well. I would like to tickle your fancy bone with the buzz on SOCKS!!! So now that you are in the board room and the dull personalities of navy, black, and gray are flooding the room. Let’s sneak in a lively reminder of your animated disposition by pumping up the socks. Be daring, drastic, and extraordinary with your choices. Life is a journey you have to embrace the quirky side and show it off. Here are a few hits to get the party started.

First my fav sock man Paul Smith they rang from $30.00 to about $50.00 yes expensive but well worth it. Your feet will thank you!!! LOL!!!

Do Make a Statement

Statement pieces are all the rage at the moment. We're being bold with our lip color, our shoes, our bag...you name it! I know for us ladies when we step out we are definitely out to make an announcement that we've arrived and all eyes need to zoom in on me...just for a second and then you can carry on with what you were doing. I know when I get dressed in the morning, I look for that one piece that's going to make my outfit pop. If it's my hair, then I'll let my hair shine. If it's my make up, I'll let that do it's thing. If it's my jewelery, then I'll let that represent. Take chances with your outfits. You can take the simplist outfit and turn it into something spectacular with just one thing. Have fun and let your personality be free! M.W.
