Decision Made

I DID IT, I DID IT!

Last week I posted that I was looking to make a decision to either let my hair grow (natural) or cut it off (pixie).

I've "big chopped" twice in the past and I've also worn my hair very short in between both natural attempts. And although I love the natural look, it was just to much maintenance and complications.

My short due never failed me. It stays consistent and effortless...so, with that being said...I CUT IT!

Trendy vs. Style

I don't claim at all to be the "trendy" type. I don't follow what's hot for the season and I don't know anything really about fashion designers and their latest collections, and I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with those that do! I actually commend and applaud those that do.

However, I am one that likes to wear what I want to wear, when I want to wear it! It doesn't matter what season it is and if it's appropriate or if it's "fashion faux pas". I've been known to rock a wool skirt in the summer (it was knee length so I don't think it mattered), I've rocked white after Labor Day (isn't always after Labor day anyway), and I've even done a strapless dress in the winter (I had a short jacket over it)!

I think rules sometimes stifle our creativity and I think trends shouldn't serve as a pattern to copy but a template to inspire your own style. Don't be afraid to do you and be free!

OBSESSIONS 2012 (part 1)

Here are a few things that I am obsessed with this year (thus far)...

Just to name a few.

BLOG HAPPY!

I don't know what's wrong with me. I've gone completely BLOG HAPPY!

I will say this about America, I love that we have the freedom to speak our minds. I think that sometimes gets us in trouble but because it's something that our country is built upon, there's nothing you can do about those that abuse it to hurt people...I digress.

I want to shout out Blogger, Tumblr, Facebook, Twitter, Weebly and all the other free online resources for giving us the ability to express ourselves in an infinite amount of ways. Here we are "amateur" writers hoping to be a voice for even a potion of our nation.

It's truly a beautiful thing. Thank you!

I've deemed today, National Happy Bloggers Day!!!

Volunteering

What's the best way to serve your community? Volunteer! Myles and I volunteer at Shoreline Dallas, a local church in the DFW area. We are in love with helping our community a better place to live. Wherever you choose to volunteer, just know that you are making a difference. Even if it's just one day, or even one hour, you can make a difference.

Hair Limbo

I've been going back and forth about what I want to do about my hair.

I cut my hair off two years ago in attempt to grow out a bush of wild natural strands that surrounded my head like halo but I've come to a stand still...

My hair isn't not responding well to the water in Dallas and has seemed to just stop growing. So, I am heavily contemplating doing another big chop or perhaps sticking to the original plan.

The pictures below are two extremes but I'm great with both looks. What do you think?

Yellow Shorts...

Ok, I'm on this bold color shorts kick this summer!

I found a great pair of sunny side up yellow shorts from this little unknown second hand shop in Austin a few weeks back for $2! You really can't beat a deal like that.

I decided to pair this shorts up with a blue and white horizontally stripped top and a tribal multi-strand necklace and a basic navy sandal.

Alls I can say, is do you and forget whomever speaks against your freedom to express yourself!

It's not the best looking picture but I do what I can...

Neck to Thigh:
necklace, multi-strand, multi-colored necklace - Aldo Accessories $10
top, navy and white horizontally stripped short sleeve - Old Navy $5
shorts, yellow walking shorts (that I need to find a cool button for) - Random Spot $2

Green Cords...

I went thrifting and found a pair of green corduroy shorts with this antique looking button for only $2!!! You have to know that was quick purchase. There is no way I was going to pass up a pair of cords that were green, let alone two bucks!

I cuffed and paired my shorts with a blue and white pinstriped button up (rolled sleeves) and a blue small statement necklace. I completed my look with a pair of backless spectators and a small cross body purse and I was off to a fun night at the museum with friends.

Happy Thrifiting!

Head to Toe:
hair, old twist out, pinned back
make up, natural and unassuming
earrings, silver balls (old)
necklace, blue and silver (small) statement piece - $.99, small boutique
shirt, blue and white button all the way up - Plato's Closet $5, Martin + Oso
shorts, green cords with antique button/cuffed - Goodwill $2
purse, grey with sharpie doodles (daisies) worn across the body - Goodwill $.99
shoes, navy blue and canvas backless spectators - Goodwill $4

Goals

I absolutely cannot wait to rock this!
That peachy blonde tone is my favorite right now! To bad my hair isn't even to my shoulders yet.
A girl can dream though, right?
I'm sure I'm not the only gal trying to grow her hair out, and I'm sure that I'm not the only one who is totally frustrated with the awkward stages!

Good luck, and happy growing!
